"Take the stress out of homemade pizza and tap into this pita hack! Please Enjoy!" - Chef Eric Gephart

Whether it’s a quick dinner before soccer practice or a fun family cooking night, this recipe delivers bold flavors with minimal effort.

Why a Kamado Grill Makes All the Difference

When it comes to weeknight meals, the oven might seem like the easiest option, but a charcoal grill like the Kamado Joe brings something extra to the table: flavor. The natural lump charcoal adds a subtle smokiness to the naan bread and toppings, creating a depth of flavor that can’t be replicated in an oven.

As Chef Eric explains, “The grill doesn’t just cook your food—it transforms it. The charcoal, the heat, the cast iron—it all works together to create something magical.”

Additionally, using the Kamado Joe ensures even heat distribution, thanks to its ceramic construction, and the ability to achieve both direct and indirect cooking zones for perfectly crisped pizza every time.

The Kamado Joe Half-Moon Reversible Griddle

A key player in this recipe is the Kamado Joe Half-Moon Reversible Griddle. This versatile accessory is a must-have for any Kamado Joe owner. One side features a smooth surface, ideal for toasting naan bread and searing sausage, while the other has a ridged surface perfect for adding grill marks to your meats and vegetables. For this recipe, Chef Eric used the smooth side to create a perfectly caramelized crust on the naan and to infuse it with the rich, rendered fat from the sausage.

“The griddle is one of my favorite accessories,” Chef Eric says. “It’s versatile, durable, and makes cooking things like naan pizza a breeze. It takes simple ingredients and elevates them with texture and flavor.”

Why Grilled Naan Pizza is a Game-Changer

Using naan bread as the pizza base takes the stress out of making dough from scratch, while the Kamado Joe grill adds that signature smoky flavor. The recipe is quick, customizable, and perfect for family cooking. You can swap out toppings, experiment with different cheeses, or even change the sauce to something like BBQ or pesto.

Chef Eric also shares why this recipe is great for families: “This is Tuesday night cooking at its best. It’s simple, fun, and gets everyone around the table together.”
